‘Celebrate Sri Lanka’ supports Indira Cancer Trust

‘Celebrate Sri Lanka’ – a charity event organised by Masterchef Australia’s Dulan Hapuarachchi in collaboration with Masterchef Australia contestants Dee Williams, Kumar Pereira, Minoli De Silva, and Dilruk Jayasinha – took place on 29 October in Melbourne, Australia.

‘Celebrate Sri Lanka’ was conceptualised as a platform to give back to Sri Lanka, with funds raised by the event donated to the Indira Cancer Trust’s Janasuwabala programme.

The Janauwabala programme is the first community kitchen for cancer patients and their family members who attend the clinic from all parts of Sri Lanka.

The funds raised by ‘Celebrate Sri Lanka’ will be used to refurbish both the existing kitchen and to build a new kitchen facility to feed up to 400 people a day. The partnership between ‘Celebrate Sri Lanka’ and the Indira Cancer Trust was facilitated by philanthropist Roshan Mahanama who introduced the two causes to one another.

Guests at ‘Celebrate Sri Lanka’ enjoyed canapes, shared mains, and desserts, all of which focused on Sri Lankan flavours made by the master chefs as well as some fantastic entertainment. The night was filled with fun and laughter and most of all, happy stomachs.
