Dreaming of a white Christmas

She’s bubbly, she’s bright, and she brings in the cheer – with Christmas just around the corner, The Morning Brunch decided to reach out to Twitter personality Sharon Perera, who embodies all traits of Christmas. You might know her by her username: @aleronn__. Perera has an eye for the unusual and a passion for photography, which she pursues as a hobby. We had a chat about her Christmas plans, New Year’s resolutions, and more. Here’s what she had to say.

How will you be spending Christmas this year?

This year, I have very simple plans. I will be taking my mom out for a festive lunch; other than that, I might visit my cousins. After all, Christmas is all about spending time with your family.

What would you say Christmas means to you?

Oh I just love Christmas and everything about it! It is the best time of the year. I love the decorations, gifts, and the music – it’s a whole vibe. There’s just something in the air that has everyone in good spirits.

What’s your most unforgettable Christmas memory?

I spent Christmas in 2018 at Galle Fort with my mom and my cousins. We spent the night there. It was such a magical and certainly unforgettable ambience. It’s my favourite place to spend Christmas Eve in Sri Lanka for sure!

Holidays can be stressful sometimes. How do you like to unwind?

I don’t really get stressed, because I don’t undertake planning family functions or anything extravagant like that. They’re always spent with my closest family members – who generally undertake the planning! But that said, it sure is stressful on my wallet.

What would your perfect Christmas look like?

I would love to spend Christmas in Europe one day. It’s up there on my bucket list and has been a dream of mine since I was a child.

Like every kid growing up in a tropical country, I would love to experience snow! My favourite Christmas movies are The Holiday and Last Christmas. I live for aesthetics, and I loved the mood in those movies, and it would be amazing if real life could replicate it somehow.

 Any New Year’s resolutions?

Well, I want more things on my Pinterest boards to come true! This would involve more travelling around the world and living more aesthetically. One day at a time, am I right?

What’s 2023 looking like for you?

I am thinking about making some big life decisions! Not marriage or anything like that – but if all goes well, I’d say my lifelong dream of spending Christmas in Europe might be a reality next year. Fingers crossed!
