Evanjelin Francia Elchmanar of SL heritage to represent UK at Miss International in Japan

Evanjelin Francia Elchmanar, born to Sri Lankan parents in Paris, is the current Miss International United Kingdom 2021/2022 and former Miss Teen Great Britain 2017/2018 and will be representing the UK at the 60th Miss International beauty pageant to be held in Tokyo, Japan.

The event will be held on 13 December at the Tokyo Dome Arena with close to 70 countries participating from all over the world vying for the Miss International crown. Voting will be open until the day of the event and can be done through the Miss International app.

Evanjelin’s pageant journey began when she was crowned Miss Inspiration at the 2015 London Avurudu Kumari competition when she was just 15 years old. The following year, she became the first runner-up at the Miss Teen Great Britain competition.

Evanjelin is involved in many charities in the UK, distributing food for the homeless and raising money for numerous welfare organisations through her philanthropic work. In Sri Lanka, her first project involved providing shelter to a family in need in Batticaloa. She is adamant that children should be provided with the quality of education they need to ensure they are able to develop skills through their studies.

As part of the fourth of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) introduced by the United Nations (UN), she distributed school uniforms to the Kithulampitiya Ananda Maha Vidyalaya in Galle, handed over a nine-foot Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom Matha Saraswathi Devi statue to Navithanveli Annamalai Maha Vidyalayam in Kalmunai, Ampara, and provided school books to Vaani Tamil Vidyalaya, Hunnasgiriya, Kandy.
