Lakdeepanie Peiris, a largely successful social media content creator with over 46,000 followers on Instagram, finds travelling to be her greatest passion in life. She loves to travel, as it helps her realise that life is beautiful and there is so much to admire and treasure in this world.
It also gives her a chance to explore new places and learn different cultures and traditions while meeting new people that were born and live in different ways than hers. Furthermore, not only does it improve her knowledge but also helps her feel relaxed alongside family and forget all the problems that she has.
Peiris told The Morning Brunch that each travel experience taught her something new and made her a better person. Although she hasn’t had the opportunity to travel overseas yet, she is still grateful that she has been to many beautiful and great places in Sri Lanka, which she says she will reminisce about for the rest of her life.
With all her travel experience, Peiris narrowed down must visit spots in Sri Lanka for when the travel bug bites you next. Here are her recommendations.
Pidurangala Rock
Located in close proximity to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Pidurangala has a proud ancient heritage. From the rich heritage to the adventurous climb, the glorious views at the peak and blissful moments surrounded by wildlife will leave you breathless.
“If I’m being honest about why I love this place, it’s where I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. As the sun slowly sinks lower and lower in the sky, its long level beams light up the green fields and all the trees and bushes with a golden glow, making every object clear and distinct. The clouds above the sinking sun began to glow with a golden light, and the mountains were clothed in royal purple. It was beautiful watching the sun slowly fall behind everything and watching the colours fade from bright and vibrant to pure darkness on top of Pidurangala Rock.”
Habarana Elephant Safari
Habarana is a small picturesque city in the Anuradhapura District in the north-central region of Sri Lanka. The city is famed for safari tours in the nearby Minneriya Sanctuary, which is heavily populated by elephants and other species of wildlife.
