Migara Silva is quite literally the new kid on the block with his first-ever original track හීනයක් being released today (18), together with an incredible music video – available for streaming on YouTube, Apple Music, and Spotify.
Vocals and melody courtesy of Migara himself, the track boasts of a collaboration of artists who are truly some of Sri Lanka’s best. With the amazing Roshane Silva on the saxophone, Chinthaka Hettiarachchi of Nadro and Infinity on percussion, Jimith Sirinandana formerly of Magic Box Mixup on drums, and, of course, Infinity lead guitarist Nifal Ibrahim rounding out the group, to whom Migara refers to so fondly as the “blessed musicians”.
The track also features Deileepa Mangala, famous multi-instrumentalist and pianist for Marians taking on the harmonica for the track and Andrew Withana covering sound effects (SFX) for the song.
හීනයක් is a project that has been many years in the making, having started working way back in 2017, Migara shared that it was really a long time coming, however, he is delighted to finally give it a well-deserved audience.
Migara who is also the featured bass guitarist for හීනයක් stated that despite this being his first official release, he was so incredibly lucky to have the support of these industry juggernauts, first and foremost as a support system, but as musical collaborators who have lent him their talent, expertise and genius at no extra cost but the friendship that they share.
He said that he cannot call their little unit a band as each individual artist has excelled in their own paths and what we see here is the coming together of minds melding to help bring his vision to life.

According to Migara හීනයක් tells the tale of immature love. “We’ve all been victims of immature love, that experience of a bed of roses, the lovey dovey fairy tale love that doesn’t last,” he said. He noted that with his lyricists Naveen Jayamanne and Sachin Fernando the story comes to life in song and also in video – the story conceptualised by Migara and produced by Satheesh Rathnaraja of Crossroad Media.
When asked what genre the song belongs to, Migara really wasn’t too sure. He noted: “I honestly don’t know what genre this falls under, shame on me,” but he did say that this isn’t exactly a “hyped-up” song, but it has its moments. Nevertheless, he expressed that being a musical nerd, he has put a lot of thought into blending his visuals to the track, as the featuring saxophone solo and lead guitar solo seamlessly elevate the magic of what’s on screen.
What’s next?
Migara shared that with හීනයක් being his first original, he cannot confirm if it will definitely be a part of a bigger project, perhaps even an album, but he is not ruling out the possibility.
He does have a collaboration with Mihindu Ariyaratne in the works – who is of course best known for his song Chakithaya which has gone on to be a classic.
Being pretty much the new guy, Migara said that he does have stories to tell, and this is new territory for him having maintained a low profile; despite having gigged for years and being on the music circuit for some time, this would be his first foray out of the woodworks.
Talking about his music and what he hopes to do, he said that he hopes that his track is well received and he is able to continue releasing music as time permits. “I want to plant, cultivate, grow, and eventually harvest what is in my head when it comes to music,” he said, and he hopes to share this harvest with as many people as possible.
And finally, last but not least, Migara made special note of Viresh “Chika” Cooray and Bathiya Jayakody, two incredibly successful musicians with invaluable experience who lent their support to him. “Their humility knows no bounds; all I had to do was ask, and at times I didn’t even have to ask,” said Migara, extending his utmost gratitude to these two artists, and of course, his mother who has been his strength and support through it all.
