Seasonal festivities at the Lotus Tower

In an attempt to provide Sri Lankans with a unique Christmas experience, the Tourism Ministry, along with the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM), and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), has organised “Christmas Colombo – Lotus Tower” a fun-filled eight-day event that will come to a close on 28 December.

The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Lotus Tower car park, and entrance to the grounds is free, especially for anyone visiting the Lotus Tower.

According to the organisers, the Lotus Tower car park has been chosen as the venue as it can accommodate a large number of people who can visit the premises for its food court consisting of stalls by some of the best hotels in the country, a vendor market, beverage stalls, and a kids’ corner, which includes activities like face painting, games, and photo booths.

In addition to this, there will be DJs and bands playing live from 9 p.m. onwards. The line-up of bands includes: Kurumba (23 December), Air Force (24 December), Police (25 December), Billy Fernando (26 December), Romesh (27 December), and Line One (28 December).

While the Navy and Army played yesterday (22 December), and Foot Print the previous day, on opening night, Misty took the stage at 9 p.m., although the event itself didn’t start until well into the night despite the initial 4 p.m. opening time, which was later changed to 6 p.m. on Tuesday (20).
