From being featured on prominent media networks such as BBC and Discovery Inc, Stigmata is our home grown metal ensemble that has prevailed in the local music industry for almost twenty years now.
It brings us a great joy to reveal that this homegrown band that represented Sri Lanka at the highly acclaimed Asian Music Video Awards were able to grasp the winning title for this year. The group is set to perform on 4 November, 2018 at the Floor By O following their triumph.
Hosted by www.channelfix.com, the contest – Asian Music Video Awards – celebrates regional talent from over 250 bands across Asia. Whilst the victory stand is accumulated with a number of rewards, most importantly, the winners stood a chance to acquire recognition from Sweden’s iconic international marketing guru and music producer, David Sivano. Not only is David a selected jury member for the Swedish Royal Music Institute alongside Janne Schaffer of Abba, but he has worked with iconic performers such as Prince, Lady Gaga, and Michael Jackson.
The victory concert is positioned to be an exclusive Sunday evening of pure Sri Lankan metal.
Suresh from Stigmata revealed to us that towards the end, the winners were determined through a count of votes. He said,
“This concert is organised as a means of expressing our gratitude to those who voted for us, supported and stood with us from the get go.”
Interestingly, this will also be Stigmata’s first appearance following their victory, they hope for it to be a special one for fans, special invitees and patrons.
