Stigmata unleash ‘The Rocktober Sessions: Volume I’

Stigmata

Stigmata are locked and loaded, ready to organise and stage their next event, titled “The Rocktober Sessions: Volume I” this Saturday (8) at Darley Road Pub and Restaurant.

October is that famed month known for Oktoberfest events, and therefore Stigmata and their team have something else that’s equally explosive and irrefutably unique on the cards this October. The concert promises to follow in the wake of the band’s sold-out show at Tap House earlier in August.

The first of a dual concert experience in October, the aptly titled Rocktober Sessions will kick off at 7 p.m. and go on till midnight, complete with the best of high-voltage live music, Sri Lankan originality, a grand festive atmosphere, and delectable food and beverage deals is guaranteed to provide audiences with something wicked, something wild, and something truly unforgettable.

Sanjeev Niles

“The Rocktober Sessions: Volume I” will feature a star-studded guest line-up of performers – the classical baritone extraordinaire Sanjeev Niles, the brilliant, debonair  hard rocker Ashen Sandaru, and the energetic and enigmatic dukes of aggression, metal band Sevexth.

Stigmata themselves were as delighted as their fans were once news leaked that the band would take to the stage to perform as a five-piece once again, having added Shayne Seneviratne (from Ancient Curse, Chain, Senkadagala) to their ranks as the second guitarist, and Shavin Hettiarachchi (from Trishira) as the new talented skinsman on drums.

Stigmata promise a mind-incapacitating performance with a diverse setlist comprising some of their most beloved anthems they have not performed in many years, some new music, and a tribute to Alice in Chains that is bound to get those pits into a frenzy, the crowds on their feet, and fists pumping up to the skies.

“We are so psyched to have such talent, both Shayne and Shavin, with us. They are super passionate, crazy committed, are amazing musicians and fun to be around! You guys are going to be blown away by how heavy we are now!” Tenny quipped with his trademark larger-than-life grin.

Thisara added: “The band is sounding fabulously brutal now. Shavin and Shayne have brought such a fullness to the sound, and we are excited to play as a five-piece again.”

“The Rocktober Sessions: Volume I” is the fourth live concert organised by Stigmata as part of a year-long series of shows staged at key venues around Colombo. The band has been occupied playing to full houses, have launched some incredible new merchandise, and are working on new music that will end up on the band’s fifth and next studio album.

Ashen Sandaru

“There is no argument that Stigmata were delivering the goods as a quartet. But to hear them now as a five-piece again, playing songs like Solitude and My Malice, which we’ve not heard in a while, with that insane level of musicianship, is truly something to look forward to,” said Stigmata Chief Engineer of Sound and Lights Nipuna de Silva.

To experience a night of energy, camaraderie, and diverse talent, you know where to be.

Tickets are priced at Rs. 2,000, and will be available at the gate on show day at the Darley Road Pub and Restaurant. However, one could reserve pre-orders by messaging or calling 0777300607, as the event will be limited to a capacity of 250 patrons only.
