Disturbing 12-year-old prediction warned the world of a pneumonia outbreak
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has so far killed at least 3,408 people and infected more than 100,000 globally. Whilst conspiracy theorists have so far claimed the virus was predicted by the 16th-century prophet Nostradamus and the Christian Bible, thousands of people also seem to be looking to books to find supposed clues and predictions about the coronavirus.
The newest such clue seems to be in author Sylvia Browne’s 2008 book End of Days: Predictions and Prophecies about the End of the World.
Browne, a supposed psychic wrote of a pneumonia outbreak ravaging the world.
The book reads: “In around 2020 a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe, attacking the lungs and the bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatments.
“Almost more baffling than the illness itself will be the fact that it will suddenly vanish as quickly as it has arrived, attack again 10 years later, and then disappear completely.”
Before this, readers found author Dean Koontz wrote of a coronavirus disease called Wuhan-400 in his 1981 novel The Eyes of Darkness.
While all of this may sound like a fool’s errand, it sure seems to be something fans are into. Browne’s ‘End of Days’ is a book that speaks a little vaguely about a disease spreading across the planet.
Unlike Eyes of Darkness, this book is not a work of fiction; it is entirely dedicated to prophecy and prediction about how the world would come to an end.
The brief passage has sparked the imaginations of many social media users who believe it matches the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
Twitter user Diana Newman said: “This is from a Dean Koontz book in 1981. Read the text carefully… Coronavirus… Ideas have an origin in another realm. Sylvia Browne book, ‘End of Times’.”
It would seem if one isn’t simply reading with the objective of finding great prophetic predictions that although in this crazy world this prediction may come true, it cannot be exactly applied to our current situation. While Browne is known to be a psychic medium and she has authored over 40 similar works, her title is self-given and her works may simply be a product of a fascination with the idea of predicting the future.
It is certainly not the author’s fault however, that fans are willing to believe that what she wrote was about the coronavirus simply because that is what’s most talked about now.
