Food festivals always attract a large crowd in Sri Lanka, as they offer a variety of dishes and flavour under one roof, and the recently held Western Breeze Festival was no exception.
On 11 and 12 November, Marine Drive, Colombo 3, came alive with stalls offering everything from fried potato swirls, samosa, and kebab to grilled chicken, corn on the cob, and shawarma. In terms of food, however, it is safe to say that seafood was the star of the festival, with visitors having their fill of fish, prawns, crab, and mussels.
In addition to the range of food and drinks, visitors had the opportunity to enjoy various entertainment acts such as live music and traditional fire dances. Stalls also offered local products like cashews, tea, handicrafts, and jewellery, and since no festival is complete without one, a mehendi station was also set up.
The two-day food festival was organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Board and attracted a large crowd on both days.
