The healthiest weekend of your life is set to commence at Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo with the inspiring tale of how Johann Peiris conquered the highest mountain in the world. “Conquer YOUR Everest with Johann Peiris in conversation with Savitri Rodrigo” will be held at 8 Degrees on the Lake, Cinnamon Lakeside followed by sundown drinks and canapés on the weekend of 16-18 September.

The Morning Brunch reached out to Johann to get some insight into what we can expect in the coming weekend. Johann highlighted that this event will be held in celebration of World Wellness Week, and he, in partnership with Cinnamon, hopes to rejuvenate one’s mind, body, and soul. He hopes to touch on topics relating to facing challenges during tough times, how to find peace of mind, and focus on the physical and mental wellbeing of a person. He spoke about how taking time to attend to your physical health can boost your mood, protect against mental ill health, help you to maintain motivation and energy, and ensure that you stay physically healthy.
“I’ll be talking about how to face challenges, what it really means to keep fit and how to go about it, the mental benefits of physical fitness, how to overcome obstacles, and the importance of having a balanced routine in one’s life,” Johann informed us.
Johann also emphasised the importance of time management when it comes to maintaining mental and physical health, noting that one of the biggest problems we have in our lives is time – or the lack thereof. “I will share some advice on how one can manage their time in order to take better care of themselves and have the necessary downtime for their body and mind to recover from the day’s stress.”
While he will discuss all these topics with Savithri Rodrigo, the forum will be open to the audience as well during a certain time slot, adding a personal touch to the discussion that will become more of a casual chat. “I encourage the audience to ask various questions, whether related to the topic or slightly out of the box, during the allocated time,” he added.
We asked Johann if he believes that given the unpredictable situation and economic instability, such a forum that prioritises one’s wellbeing is needed now more than ever. “The worsening situation in the country is the reason we decided to have such a programme,” Johann told us, adding: “Right now, everyone is cutting back and doing away with certain things; lifestyles are changing and I think it’s very important at a time like this, when we are meeting with so many new obstacles every day, that we learn to overcome them.” Johann will share his advice on how we can move forward from the throes of this situation and explain how one can maintain a balanced life even during difficult situations. He believes such is very important during this particular time of our lives.
Johann invites everyone to hop aboard and sail away from all of one’s challenges and obstacles, and as the sun sets over the city, watch one’s mental stresses disappear as well.
