Sri Lankan Australian Dilruk Jayasinha on his Amazon Prime stand-up special
“I think Canadians and Kiwis could appreciate my frustrations here. Thank you for all the incredible messages from those who’ve watched my @primevideoaunz standup, especially my Indian fans who understood and continued to show their love 🙏🏾❤️,” posted Sri Lankan Australian comedian and actor Dilruk Jayasinha on his Facebook page after his 24 April stream of Amazon Prime special “Bundle Of Joy”.
“SQUEE! After a little bit more spamming we can go to our regular programming of me posting photos of my cooking, my calves, and the eventual cooking of my calves,” he posted ahead of the streaming.
With comedy festivals cancelled around the world, Amazon Prime released 10 original Australian specials. Amazon, in March, shared the first trailer for 10 Australian Amazon Original stand-up specials that will be coming to Prime Video in Australia and around in more than 200 countries and territories.
On 24 April, “Bundle Of Joy” by Dilruk Jayasinha who has quickly become one of Australia’s favourite comedians, started streaming. Jayasinha won the 2018 Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent. His live shows have been received with popular and critical acclaim, and his most recent tour culminated in knockout performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and London’s Soho Theatre. Jayasinha’s accolades include winning the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent at the TV Week Logie Awards 2018.
Comedians will have their stand-up specials available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from April and May, with the streaming service beginning the promotional push for the exclusive content.
The roster of award-winning and nominated comedians includes Lano and Woodley, Zoë Coombs Marr, Judith Lucy, Tommy Little, Anne Edmonds, Tom Walker, Celia Pacquola, Dilruk Jayasinha, Alice Fraser, and Tom Gleeson. The Australian Amazon Original stand-up specials are produced by Guesswork Television and were filmed in Melbourne at the Malthouse Theatre.
