Numa The Concept Store recently opened its doors for the first time in Colombo 7, on 4 March. The event was graced by many influencers, philanthropists, local entrepreneurs, and media personnel alike.
Numa was inspired by three talented young women who have the same passion for fashion and who wanted to make a difference in the way brands or emerging brands were showcased. Explaining the reasoning behind showcasing a variety of up and coming brands, a spokesperson for Numa said that they have relatively new brands at the store, and only a very curated collection is retailed.
The concept behind Numa is simple; with its recent inception, they wanted to showcase Sri Lankan talent, which is why, the spokesperson added, they have created a platform for local emerging designers to showcase their talents. “All products, whether it is clothes or lifestyle items, are 100% locally sourced, from all parts of Sri Lanka. We wanted to provide these entrepreneurs with a platform for their skills and hard work,” stated the spokesperson.

When asked about their plans for 2021, they commented: “Our biggest step for 2021 is to have the store opened, which has finally happened.” It was also revealed that the store was due to launch last year, but with the pandemic, this was not possible. “As for the rest of the year, we intend to do a lot of new fashion/beauty-related events and bring in more local designers to our platform.”
