Seasonal chit-chat with influencer Luxsan Tharmarajah

By Venessa Anthony

It’s that time of the year again – cold air, busy streets, and an overall buzz of excitement and cheer, and The Morning Brunch decided to speak to a few familiar faces to see what they’ll be up to this Christmas.

Today, we caught up with Luxsan Tharmarajah, popularly known as @lifeofluxsan on Instagram. He is an undergraduate in psychology, and during his free time, loves to explore the country. This is how his career as an influencer began.

From humble beginnings of clicking a photo or two to gaining a massive following on Instagram in a span of a few months, Luxsan’s wanderlust still prevails to this day. We had a chat with him about how he plans to spend the season this year. Here’s what he shared.

How will you be spending Christmas this year?

I usually spend Christmas at my best friend’s place, but unfortunately, she is not in the country, so I have no plans as of yet. If anyone is reading this and wants to invite me, you can!

What would you say Christmas means to you?

It means getting the whole family together and having great laughs and good food! Christmas means hope and new beginnings.

What’s your most unforgettable Christmas memory?

My most unforgettable Christmas memory was volunteering at a shopping mall, wrapping gifts and collecting money for a hospice foundation. Giving back during the holiday season is one of the most rewarding experiences ever and it will always be one of my most special memories.

Holidays can be stressful sometimes. How do you like to unwind?

Anytime I’m stressed out, I usually bake something, and getting the best results makes me happy! During Christmas, I usually bake brownies and mini cupcakes for my friends and family, which is one of the best stress-relieving things to do.

What would your perfect Christmas look like?

Spreading love and joy during this season as much as I can. The best way is by getting involved in Christmas activities within my local community.

What is the best gift you’ve received and given?

My school friends organised a Secret Santa event and I got these cool retro sunglasses from Aldo. The best gift I’ve given was one kilo of Skittles, which was probably enough to last a year.

Any New Year’s resolutions?

I’m trying to eat healthily and cut down on carbs! It’s been almost two years since I stopped drinking carbonated beverages.

What’s 2023 looking like for you?

I’m hoping for a new beginning in a new environment. I want to travel and do things out of my comfort zone. Wish me luck!
